The cold weather has well and truly set in, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be active and healthy.

Things to do in Kellyville this winter
Flip out: For an exciting indoor winter activity, you can’t go past Flip Out. Located in Castle Hill, Flip Out is a fun day out for the whole family with a range of bouncy options for a winter’s day. There is a café so you can have a hot cup of coffee while the kids bounce on the many trampolines, enjoy the ninja activities or play laser tag. This one is great for rainy days and winter birthday parties.
Castle Hill BMX track: Another excellent way for the kids to stay active and work out some winter energy is at the Castle Hill BMX track. Make sure the kids wear their helmets and take some food and drink, and you can enjoy a fun day out. Make sure to check out their Facebook page for event days to be sure that the track is open for young riders to do their thing.
Cycling: BMXing isn’t the only form of two-wheeled fun. A bike ride can be an excellent way to get the blood flowing on a winter’s day, and the Hills region has plenty of parks that are perfect for young and old.
– Castle Hill is a track especially for kids to learn to ride and to learn the importance of road signs.
– John Wearn Reserve in Carlingford is a stunning, recently designed park with a safari playground and ample cycle paths.
– Bernie Mullane in Kellyville has a perfect circuit for scooters around its playground.

Indoor sports: If outdoor sports don’t tickle your fancy at this time of year, there is always the Bernie Mullane Sports Complex. Gym facilities and indoor courts mean you can enjoy a number of different sporting activities with friends, all indoors and out of the weather. You can even enjoy the café when you are done.
Advantage Aquatics: Winter is an excellent time to ensure your kids brush up on their swimming skills, ready for the warmer months. Advantage Aquatics provides lessons all year round at all skill levels. Book your kids in this winter, and you can be happy knowing they will be confident in the water come summer.
Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre: If the whole family wants a swim, you don’t have to wait for summer… just over in Baulkham Hills is the Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre. Among their many pools are a 25-metre indoor pool, an indoor leisure pool and an indoor toddler pool. Included in the Aquatic membership is access to the spa, sauna and steam room, as well as the pools.
Metro Walks: if you want to stay a little more central in the winter months and don’t want to risk being too far from civilisation, why not try a metro walk? Head to the Hills Council website, and you will find downloadable self-guided tour maps of each town in the area, including Kellyville. Explore the area and discover hidden lakes, creeks and local wildlife.
Bushwalks: There are plenty of bushwalks in the area too. There are also a number of downloadable self-guided tours available and the council website, and you will have the opportunity to see historical sites linked to Australia’s colonial and convict past.
